Spatial Characterization of Electromagnetic Random Channels

چکیده
The majority of stochastic channel models rely on the electromagnetic far-field assumption, which allows to decompose in terms plane waves. assumption breaks down future applications that push towards near-field region, such as those where use electromagnetically large antenna arrays is envisioned. Motivated by this consideration, we show how physical principles can be used derive a plane-wave scalar model also valid reactive region. Precisely, narrowband wave propagation through three-dimensional scattered medium generally modeled linear and space-variant system. We first review physics lead closed-form deterministic representation impulse response. This serves basis for deriving statistically independent Gaussian random coefficients spatially stationary environments. very desirable property spatial stationarity always retained radiative region excluding mechanisms confined close proximity source. Remarkably, provided directly connected Fourier spectral general field.

Spatial Characterization of Mimo Wireless Channels
In this paper a novel spatial channel model is developed to provide insight into spatial aspects of multiple antenna communication systems. In particular, we uncouple the antenna configuration and scattering environment effects on the channel matrix, allowing for arbitrary antenna arrays to be studied in a variety environments. We use the underlying physics of free space wave propagation to mod...

In this paper a novel three dimensional spatial channels model is developed to provide insight into spatial aspects of multiple antenna communication systems. The spherical harmonic representation of wavefields is used to decompose the spatial channel matrix into a product of known and random matrices where the known portion shows the effects of the physical configuration of antenna elements. T...

We present a statistical analysis of wideband three-dimensional channel measurements at base station locations in an urban environment. Plots of the received energy over azimuth, elevation, and delay planes suggest that the incident waves group to clusters in most measured transmitter positions. A super-resolution algorithm (Unitary ESPRIT) allows to resolve individual multipath components in s...
متن کاملCharacterization of polarization fluctuations in random electromagnetic beams
Two stationary, partially polarized electromagnetic beams with equal degrees of polarization may exhibit completely different time evolutions of the instantaneous polarization state. In this work, we derive a statistical quantity that describes the rate at which the field intensity in the beam, on average, is redistributed between the beam’s polarization state at any time and the state orthogon...

In this chapter we present a realistic new model for wireless multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) channels which is more general than previous models. A novel spatial decomposition of the channel is developed to provide insights into the spatial aspects of multiple antenna communication systems. By exploiting the underlying physics of free-space wave propagation we characterize the fundamental...
